Island Records Australia is home to established artists Brian McFadden, Hilltop Hoods (via Golden Era Records), Clare Bowditch, and emerging artists Boy & Bear, Havana Brown, Gin Wigmore, Andy Bull, Marvin Priest and Slow Down Honey.
In 2009 Island Records Australia had the highest selling domestic artist release in Australia for the year with the Hilltop Hoods (via Golden Era), nearing 2x platinum and the highest selling domestic artist release in New Zealand for the year with Gin Wigmore, nearing 4x platinum.
The original Island Records, founded in 1962 by Chris Blackwell, has developed its premier reputation through the global popularity of such artists as U2, Bob Marley, Cat Stevens, Roxy Music, Bad Company, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, P.J. Harvey, Pulp and more recently, The Killers and Amy Winehouse.
